Accountant

On behalf of our client, a company that provide services in Accounting & Bookkeeping, Banking, and Compliance, we are looking for an Accountant to be based in their offices in Limassol, Cyprus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Performs regular reconciliations of bank statements, debtor accounts, creditor accounts, and internal financial records to ensure consistency and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly Profit and Loss statements, offering detailed insights into financial performance.
  • Ensures full compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and financial best practices, and support external auditors during audit preparation.
  • Collaborates closely with cross-functional departments, including operations and compliance, to streamline financial processes and ensures accurate reporting.
  • Prepares and submits VAT/VIES returns, as well as other required declarations to the Tax Department.
  • Keeps up-to-date with changes in financial regulations, accounting standards, and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Continuously identifies and implements improvements in accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Performs additional accounting-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and/or LCCI Higher Certificate in Accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of client-focused accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with Intelisoft accounting software is a distinct advantage.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience in the application of VAT and Tax Law.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and derive actionable insights.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Greek and English, enabling effective collaboration with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proven ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding financial information.
