Head of Accounting

On behalf of our client, a boutique firm of Certified Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors, providing services, from audit and assurance to tax and business consulting, we are looking for a Head of Accounting to be based at their offices in Limassol, Cyprus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the team of the staff of the Accounting Department
  • Reviews the work of his/her team members and ensures that work is prepared in accordance with professional standards and in compliance with the Law and Regulations
  • Ensures that posting and processing of journal entries of all business transactions of clients in the accounting software
  • Responsible for the VAT, VIES Returns
  • Responsible for the tax returns ( e.g. IR1,IR4, IR7,IR603,IR614.etc.)
  • Ensures that accounts receivable and accounts payable are reconciled quarterly and on year-end
  • Responsible for the clients’ payroll
  • Responsible for direct tax consulting
  • Responsible to prepare the audit file for the auditors to perform the audit of the client and be the main contact with the auditors
  • Liaises with clients in relation to accounting issues and tax obligations
  • Provides on the job training and guidance to the team members
  • Keeps up to date with all developments in the field of taxation and shares the knowledge with the staff
  • Reports to the Partner for the progress of his/ her team
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements: 

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA,ACA) with 5 years or a non-qualified accountant with 10 years working experience in the accounting profession
  • An academic background relating to Accounting, Finance, Economics
  • Very Good knowledge of VAT and Tax Law
  • Very Good knowledge and practical application of IAS and IFRS
  • Very Good knowledge of MS Office-Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent command of Greek and English languages
  • Ability to be a team leader
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Capable of working on own initiative.
  • Pleasant personality.
  • Eager to constantly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
