Uniteam Marine is an international ship management organisation that provides industry-leading services to ship owners and ship managers across a wide range of countries and jurisdictions.
With immediate effect, we are looking for a Junior Technical Superintendent to be based at our offices in Limassol, Cyprus.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes the Planned Maintenance System project or any other fleet management systems, i.e. generates PMS/ inventories, controls/files documents etc. under the supervision/ guidance of the senior members of the Technical Function including the Technical Manager
- Implements the Planned Maintenance System on the Fleet vessels under the supervision/ guidance of the Technical Director
- Communicates with customers under the supervision of the Technical Manager
- Prepares the final technical and financial reports
- Supports vessels crew with solving technical problems on board
- Monitors the ordering phase of the logistics process
- Assists TSI and Technical Manager to prepare OPEX budgets and reports expenses against such budgets
- Monitors vessels performance trends including speed, fuel and lube oil consumptions
- Carries out vessel inspections, in respect to technical, operation, ISM, ISPS, safety and environmental guidelines
- Assists Technical Superintendent for appointed vessels in all technical matters, i.e. maintenance, preparation for repairs and dry-docking specifications
- Ensures compliance with classification, flag state and port state rules and regulations
- Is willing to travel internationally and in some cases on short notice
- Monitors assigned vessels to ensure strict compliance with all national and international environmental regulations, including but not limited to MARPOL, the Ballast Water Management Convention (BWM), and company Safety & Environmental Management Systems (SEMS)
- Supports the collection, verification, and analysis of environmental performance data, especially for mandatory reports like the IMO Data Collection System (DCS) and EU MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) or future requirements like CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator)
- Prepares and submits accurate and timely environmental reports to regulatory bodies and internal management.
- Monitors and follows up on the proper handling, storage, and disposal of ship-generated waste, including oily waste, garbage, and sewage, ensuring compliance with port state and MARPOL requirements
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; OR Sailing experience as a 3rd or 2nd Engineer
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a technical role ashore or at sea in the maritime industry
- Foundational knowledge of marine machinery planned maintenance systems (PMS) and general vessel operations
- Basic knowledge of key maritime environmental regulations (e.g., MARPOL) and the principles of environmental reporting (e.g., fuel oil consumption data)
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication in English, and the ability to work effectively in a team
- Knowledge of the applicable codes, guidelines and standards.
- Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, communication (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
