Tax Manager

On behalf of our client, a well-established boutique firm that specializes in Tax planning and advisory, we are looking for a Tax Manager to be based at their offices in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with management to develop and implement strategic tax planning and policies that help the clients or businesses to be compliant with Cyprus tax laws and regulations
  • Provides advice and consultation to clients on tax efficient structures and direct tax issues and risks
  • Finds and implements opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures
  • Identifies and presents direct tax opportunities and risks according to tax legislation, common practice, and double tax treaties
  • Performs Tax audits on clients and prepares reports with relevant findings and proposals for rectifying any errors identified
  • Oversees the efforts of multiple client engagements, plans, executes, directs, and completes tax assignments in a wide variety of industries and jurisdictions as well as in complicated areas of Cyprus tax laws.
  • Facilitates and manages the preparation and review of company income tax returns and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms
  • Manages and facilitates tax audits: prepares responses, creates schedules, etc. 
  • Interprets Income Tax Law and applies it as required 
  • Works closely with Directors, Senior Managers and Managers of all departments in order to enhance client service and facilitate new business development 
  • Prepares letters/reports/advanced tax rulings of opinion in relation to Taxation matters that will need to be submitted to the clients and/or to the Cyprus Tax Department 
  • Prepares and presents seminars to both clients and colleagues 
  • Prepares and or assists with the preparation of Transfer Pricing studies for clients, in compliance with the Law and Regulations and relevant OECD Guidelines 
  • Performs economic and benchmarking analysis, in order to determine the arm’s length price of financial and trading transactions 
  • Stays up to date with all developments in the field of taxation 
  • Contributes to a strong client relationship through positive interactions with client personnel 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the management

Job Requirements: 

  • University degree (BSc) with a background in law, taxation, accounting, finance, economics or a related field 
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA) or ADIT or other professional qualification or credential demonstrating knowledge in the field of taxation. 
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in an audit firm, tax practice or related consultancy/advisory firm, 3 of them in a supervisory role 
  • Excellent knowledge of the Cyprus tax legislation, the provisions of Double Tax Treaties and the EU tax directives and international tax developments 
  • Able to study and understand the laws related to the direct taxation of Cyprus as well as other jurisdictions 
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance and procedures for corporations 
  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness 
  • Strong analytical, and research skills & Excellent problem-solving abilities 
  • Strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Greek and English language 
  • Knowledge of Russian or other foreign languages is considered an advantage 
  • IT literate

Main Duties and Requirements

  • Leads a team of accountants and overviews all the client Accounting services
  • Prepares the accounting records and the book-keeping of the clients in accordance with international financial reporting standards
  • Responsible for clients’ payroll on a monthly basis
  • Handles the unaudited financial statements with Caseware
  • Liaises with the clients, their lawyers, and auditors to meet their needs and requirements on a continuous basis

Main Requirements

  • Qualified ACA or ACCA
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 3 years of previous work experience in a similar position
  • Familiarity with Income Tax
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English language
  • Strong computer literacy and excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engages with the business locally to ensure that the services provided by the Finance Service Line are aligned with local business needs.
  • Communicates with the Finance Service Line Head, Managing Partner, Group Finance Director (GFD) and the Managing Directors of each Business Unit regarding any matters that require their attention.
  • Ensures that the Finance Service Line (Myanmar) has the appropriate internal controls system, processes and procedures in place to execute its role effectively.
  • Ensures that the Finance Service Line (MM) employees in Myanmar have the tools, systems and knowledge necessary to execute their responsibilities.
  • Oversees all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and allocation of corporate/overhead costs.
  • Oversees the preparation of the Monthly management accounts for each business unit.
  • Oversees the preparation of the Quarterly Board Package for each business unit.
  • Oversees the preparation of ad-hoc reports requested by the BoD, the CEO and the Business Units Managing Directors.
  • Assists the Business Units Managing Directors in Myanmar in the preparation of their annual business plans and budgets.
  • Liaises with the external auditors for scheduling the annual audit, assisting the external auditors as required.
  • Ensures that the tax reporting for legal entities located in Myanmar is appropriately and timely performed.
  • Ensures the implementation of specific projects within the Finance Service Line (e.g., new software system).
  • Leads all business development efforts.
  • Prepares and implements UGBS’s annual business plan and budgets (Myanmar).
  • Represents UGBS – Finance Service Line (MM) to major customers and ensures that good working relationships with clients are maintained.

Job Requirements

  • University degree or similar qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • ACCA/ACA/CAT/AAT or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, communication (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar accounting package
