Berth Planner

On behalf of our client, a container terminal company we are looking for a Berth Planner to be based at their offices in Limassol, Cyprus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages terminal operations during all shifts in accordance with customer requirements, management instructions, and safe working practices 
  • Plans vessel arrivals and servicing based on the designated Berthing Windows
  • Organizes and monitors terminal activities related to berth allocation for each vessel and the number of cranes assigned 
  • Calculates each vessel’s time at berth and coordinates communication between the Terminal, Shipping Agents, and marine service providers (Pilots and Tug Boats)
  • Implements the legislative framework and regulations of the relevant authorities and partners to ensure the smooth execution of vessel berthing (Cyprus Ports Authority)
  • Conducts regular inspections of the quay and transfer areas throughout the shift and prepares operational or financial reports as required by management
  • Forecasts berthing requirements based on information received from the planning department (Cargo Planners) and ensures effective communication with shipping lines or agents
  • Organizes the vessel schedule, including the planning of berthing operations at the terminal and the distribution of the daily terminal program to all stakeholders
  • Contributes to staff and resource planning in line with operational and regulatory requirements
  • Assigns the necessary stevedoring gangs based on planning data
  • Ensures compliance with Health and Safety regulations during the execution of duties
  • Performs additional tasks related to the role as reasonably required by the Company

Job Requirements:

  • A university degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Shipping, or a related field
  • Fluent in Greek and English, in both verbal and written form 
  • Strong computer literacy (including experience with software packages such as SAP or an equivalent ERP system) and good knowledge of modern terminal planning and control systems
  • Knowledge of International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations for the proper segregation and storage of dangerous goods within the terminal area
  • Excellent knowledge of international standards for safe working practices in marine, cargo, and terminal operations
  • Strong negotiation and conflict‑management skills
  • Availability to work beyond normal working hours when necessary
