HSQE Officer

On behalf of our client, a ship management company, we are looking for an HSQE Officer to be based at their offices in Limassol, Cyprus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Company’s Integrated Management System (ISM, ISO and other applicable standards).
  • Supports the development, review, and revision of company procedures, manuals, and HSQE documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable maritime regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.
  • Monitors corrective and preventive actions arising from audits, inspections, incidents, and non-conformities.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and monitoring Internal Audits and Vessel Inspections in accordance with the Company’s Safety Management System.
  • Supports preparations for external audits, including ISM, ISO, TMSA, SIRE 2.0, RightShip, Flag State, Port State Control, Class, and customer inspections.
  • Maintains tracking systems for observations, deficiencies, non-conformities, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of safety performance reports and management review presentations.
  • Monitors and updates HSQE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of statutory, class, and trading certificates for assigned vessels.
  • Ensures HSQE records are maintained in accordance with company procedures and applicable ISO requirements.
  • Supports document control activities and maintain electronic and hard-copy filing systems.
  • Monitors certificate validity and coordinate renewals with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assists in the investigation and follow-up of incidents, accidents, near misses, and environmental occurrences.
  • Supports the promotion of safety culture and environmental awareness throughout the fleet and office.
  • Monitors compliance with environmental requirements, including MARPOL and related regulations.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of safety campaigns, alerts, and lessons learned.
  • Liaises with Masters, Chief Engineers, and shipboard personnel regarding HSQE matters, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinates closely with Technical, Operations, Purchasing, and Crewing Departments.
  • Communicates with Flag Administrations, Classification Societies, auditors, and other external stakeholders regarding compliance-related matters.
  • Participates in Management Review Meetings and HSQE Committee meetings.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Shipping, Quality Management, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in an HSQE, Marine, Technical, or Compliance role, preferably within a ship management company.
  • Good understanding of the ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, and other relevant maritime regulations.
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Previous experience within a tanker, LPG, bulk carrier, container, or passenger vessel management environment.
  • Familiarity with TMSA, SIRE 2.0, RightShip, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Experience with maritime ERP and management systems such as Danaos, NS5, Infoship, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with Classification Society and Flag State requirements.
