On behalf of Azimuth Radio Technologies, we are looking for an IT Engineer to be based at our offices in Limassol, Cyprus.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provision of prompt and efficient IT support to vessels, crew, and onboard support (when needed)
- Serves as a first point of contact for client remote assistance
- Directs unresolved IT issues to support engineers.
- Responsible for setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.) for shipboard network systems.
- Checks computer hardware (HDD, mouse, keyboards, etc.) to ensure functionality.
- Installs and configures appropriate software and functions according to specifications onboard and ashore per client requirements.
- Develops and maintains shipboard networks in ways that optimize vessel performance.
- Ensures security and privacy of networks and computer systems (shore-based and onboard).
- Provides orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
- Organizes and schedules upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
- Performs troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.).
- Performs system and network updates/upgrades.
- Monitors performance and ensures system availability and reliability.
- Maintains records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
- Identifies computer or network equipment shortages and places orders as well as monitors their delivery.
- Liaises with vendors, email providers, and other IT personnel for problem resolution or when new tasks are needed.
- Provides out-of-hours / weekend support.
Job Requirements
- University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 2 – 5 years of relevant experience offering Vessel IT Communication Services.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications (MS Windows server, Windows 10, MS Office, Hyper-V, Active Directory), Antivirus, Cisco, UPS, firewall, networking, backup, and replication systems (Certifications will be considered a plus)
- Wireless network installation and/or maintenance experience required.
- Knowledge and/or experience with onboard Vsat and connectivity solutions.
- Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, data cabling
- Knowledge of ship automation systems will be a plus
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and flexibility to work prolonged hours
- Troubleshooting and diagnostics skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
