On behalf of our Client, an independent social enterprise that provides analysis, local insight, and research to support international development projects and programs, we are looking for an Accountant to be based at their offices in Limassol, Cyprus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sets up budgets in the accounting system for externally funded projects as awards are received
  • Provides a revenue recognition code to external accounting service provider during project set up in SAP
  • Assists in internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and support
  • Reviews and approves fee payroll of contributing consultants and ensures filing and document transfer of contributing consultant documents (invoice, time sheet and expense reports) to external accounting service provider
  • Responsible for Staff Payroll
  • Generates and provides external accounting service provider with payroll reports on a monthly basis for reconciliation purposes
  • Consolidates list of payables (Payment Log Consultants, Staff and Vendors) and submits pay log to managing director for approval
  • Uploads payments to Electronic Banking System (EBS) including required supporting documentation
  • Ensures a complete and accurate list of periodic recurrent expenses (Vendor list recurrent payments)
  • Receives all bank payment instruments & approves and signs the bank reconciliation form
  • Implements project costing via cost allocation of direct and non-project associated costs 
  • Responsible for SAP Business One accounting software to oversee and review book-keeping and SAP entries
  • Closes the month in the financial ledgers, approves the trial balance and closure of the period in the G/L and project ledgers
  • Establishes pivot table instructions for shared costs
  • Provides the Finance Manager SAP accounting system reports 
  • Updates and submits Cigna Allocation to external accounting service provider for SAP entries
  • Reviews monthly financial statements and reconciliations and reports any significant deviations to the Managing Director

Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years of accounting experience 
  • Degree in Accounting
  • ACCA/ACA Qualified
  • Practical experience with IFRS and Financial Reporting
  • Working knowledge of the SAP Accounting Software is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written  
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and be part of a team
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, with outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with and support an international, inter-disciplinary, multi-cultural team of professionals
